What kind of ring to get my fiance for our wedding day?

I was under the assumption that I would have gotten him a white gold band that looked good with my set. I have been online looking at rings before going into the store, and the majority of the rings are triton tungsten and titanium. A lot of them are nice, but since it's not gold like my set, I kind of feel cheap, like I got this extravigant white gold set and he gets this cheap band (even though they really aren't that cheap).
Is it normal for guys to get triton tungsten and titanium wedding bands? That's what all the best looking seem to be made of.
Very good idea about taking him to pick out his own...I agree, wouldn't want him to not like his ring.
It's not as much wondering if it would be cheap of me to get him one, but more wondering when the switch from gold to titanium and tungsten was? I had never noticed it before.

When I got married I got a thin gold wedding bad because I was not used to wearing rings and I wanted to get used to it. Over the past 11 years I have had it crushed on my finger (which hurt but the ring bent) I have caught it on stuff (causing it to slice into my finger which really hurt). It got bent and scratched and each time I reshaped it and it was fine until last year it started to split. I was pleased that my marriage had outlasted my ring. I had read about titanium but found that titanium could be scratched. I then read that Tungsten could not be scratched. I was sceptical but knowing how clumsy I am I wanted a Tungsten replacement. I've had it about a year now and it is unscratched and still in perfect shape. It has a great solid feel to it and I would not swap it for anything. I think it was about £11 but it is what it symbolises that is important, not how much it costs. It shows everyone including me that I made a promise (three promises to be exact, but you know what I mean)

Because this is a very personal decision to make, you should discuss it with your partner. You may find that Tungsten feels slightly heavier than gold. It feels a lot stronger. I would recommend it anyday.
