Is this a real sapphire?

So, my mom has this ring that I thing she got off of eBay. It is marked "14k" and I'm almost positive it's solid 14k white gold, but I'm not sure about the gem on top. I think it's a sapphire. It has no air bubbles and has a gray-blue hue. The gem is rectangular with an upper "platform." I would guess that the setting weighs about 7 grams and the gem on top probably weighs about the same. Is there any way I can find out if it's a real sapphire?
