What is a man made substitute for expensive imported blue gemstone-- lapis lazuli?

is it ankh,faience,hieroglyphs,papyrus,scarb,cartouche,kohl,or Thebes.
It was back in Egyptian time.

I suppose you could find glass that looks like lapis lazuli.
